2014 Super GT Series Round 5 - 300 km Fuji

It's 6:30am at Fuji Speedway and the Pit area is already bustling with activity. The sound of air tools ratcheting away in the garages echoed up and down the paddock area. While the racing teams buzzed back and forth like busy bees from their team trucks with what seemed like an unlimited supply of tires and gear. All the cars wheels and body part removal was being striped to offer easier access for safety officials to inspect these speed machines.

Every team had their own unique way of presenting their cars for the safety inspections being conducted   before the race.

Besides the Pit Areas, there were things to see and do in every corner of this event. Here you can see the unveiling of the cars at the different manufactures booths. The cars were like bait to lure in the fans and entice them to buy some  of the race teams memorabilia available.

The real action was taking place on the race track, which I hurried my way back down to see. What welcomed me was a barrage of cars whizzing by at deafening speeds and that was just the beginning. The excitement as well as the speeds only increased race by race as each class was faster than the earlier.

Although I've been around the street drift scene for many years, this was the first professional D1 event I've attended. I have to say it was pretty surprising to see how commercialized it's become. A lot different from the street scene and having to  run away from the cops. lol

The two day event was action packed with local Japanese teams as well as international Russian and Thai teams going head to head. We witnessed heated drift battles, daredevil stunt van antics, Anime character drifting expedition, and an unusual amount of epic car crashes. So much to take in over just two days, boy was it worth it.

The track wasn't the only place with a lot action going on. The pit area was equally as busy with teams trying to optimize their cars performance and other crews trying to desperately  put their cars back together to stay in the competition.
